I love to paint and design dolls from paper and polymer clays. My husband Mike loves to make art from Driftwood from the Cumberland River that falls over the Cumberland Falls near our home in SE Kentucky. This blog is a chronicle of our work and what inspires us. A lot of my favorite things are antique dolls, surreal art and the sweet macabre if those two can go together. My husband is inspired by primitive art and the feel and smell of old wood. I hope you enjoy browsing through our pages.

Last Day of August
Well now that hurrican Katrina has destoyed the gulf coast, everybody will need as much help as they can get. I have spent the last few days glued to the tv looking at the destruction. We missed the large amount of rain they we would have. My prayers go out to those poor people who have nothing left. Hopefully everyone will pull together to help as they have in the past. I am off to get some painting done. More later.

Blah Blah Day
Today I have been completely useless and have accomplished nothing. I guess everyone has these days, I am usually running around like crazy trying to get stuff done. I just finished a painting that took a lot of thought and energy and I think I am just needing a break. I thought since I had some extra time I would surf through some of the other wonderful blogs on here and see what wonderful people I can find.

Finally Time to Rest
Well it has been a few days since I posted last. I have had many things to do and it seems I never have enough time. I have completed a few paintings that I would like to share with you since my last post. Any questions or comments are welcome. My goal is to become more organized and to be able to get more done in a shorter time. I know that everyone tries to do this at least once a year.

Back to Work
Well I have had a couple of days of rest and relaxation and now it is time to get back to work. It is hard to get started after some time off. I have a lot of ideas that I would like to get started on. I will try to post some of them here tomorrow.

Good work today
Today I have finished up two new paintings that I have been working on that I think worked out well. I struggle with putting on canvas what I want to say, but I suppose that is what all artists go through. I have several more ideas that keep waking me up in the middle of the night. Here are todays works.

Getting Started
The hardest part of any day is getting started. I spend at least two hours in the morning, checking emails, checking auctions and printing off necessary stuff before I can ever get started painting. Painting which should be the most important part for an artists seems to get shoved behind all the business stuff that we need to do. I am finally done with the necessary and now I can go paint.

My First Post
I thought since this was my first post I would tell you a little about myself. I am a self taught artist from Eastern Ky. I live in a tiny town with more cars than people, and I try to paint everyday. I paint mostly surreal and abstract art. They seem to be more interesting to me. My favorite artist is Dali. I have always been fascinated with surreal and abstract art and the way they get their message across. I will try to add more as the week goes on.
